The Priory Church of St Katherines

Lindum Joinery's expertise was utilised during the renovation of the Grade II listed Wesleyan Church as it was transformed into a Heritage Museum.

Overview

The Priory Church of St Katherine's stands on the site of a medieval Gilbertine Priory in Lincoln and is now home to a heritage centre, cultural resource and education venue used by members of the wider community.

The 'transformation' included a complete re-roof, masonry repairs of the stone windows and parapets, stained glass window restoration and complete new windows along with extensive conservation and restoration of the existing internal architectural features.

Our joinery team were commissioned to carry out much of the timber restoration and repair works which incorporated the restoration of English Oak wall panelling and the manufacture of replica mouldings including ceiling cornices and architraves along with supplying new doors to match the originals, roof ties and corbel detailing.

Post contract we manufactured display cases for Roman artifacts so visitors are able to view these along with the 11th Century Gilbertine Monastery remains which can be seen through a glass panel in the floor.

Although the venue now offers modern facilities, including state of the art theatre lighting, all of the works carried out were sympathetic to the age and history of the building.
